About me

Hi I’m Heather and I’m committed to helping businesses across the private, public and third sectors communicate well with people living with dementia.

I was first involved in supporting people living with dementia during my early career in the charitable sector. Later I worked in policy advice and monitoring and learned more about writing clear and useful documents, consultations and strategies (with some good and bad examples along the way).

Over the past 12 years, I’ve been supporting my mum who has mixed dementia. I now also support my partner who is living with young onset Alzheimer’s disease, so I definitely feel that I have ‘lived experience’ of some of the challenges of living with dementia.

I’ve spent 30 years working in the third, public and private sectors. Since 2020, I’ve been running my own business full-time as a copywriter, subtitler and translator.

In our spare time, my partner and I love getting out and walking – especially around South Wales where we live. (You can see some of our adventures on my personal Instagram account at @sprigofheather).
